Commitment to providing a safe and healthy working environment for all staff must first come from leadership. Successful health and safety management systems begin with leadership establishing how they intend to develop and maintain a system where management and staff work collaboratively to keep staff safe from harm. This commitment must be demonstrable and in turn assign responsibilities/accountabilities to all levels of employees - from senior leadership, through to supervisory and front line staff.
